Collection: Lomax

Lomax’s capitals are built from six horizontal lines, the lowercase from five, with another added above or below to accommodate descenders, ascenders and accents. The italic is slanted at 15°, more than the customary 10-12°, accentuating the visual forward momentum. Even though the font has no counters, each letter still reads unambiguously – even more so in the context of a short line of text. The horizontal lines evoke the scanning beam of a cathode ray tube or a vintage TV transmission, imparting a low-resolution utilitarian urgency, while also appearing sharp and precise in shorter settings such as logos and headlines. The design lends itself to all manner of layered and overlapping treatments.
